Meditation... is it important?

Dr Kelly here. Meditation. Is it important?? Yes!!

Meditation has been helping people achieve their inner calm for centuries.

Regular meditation has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

It enhances emotional well-being, boosts creativity, and improves concentration and memory.

Lowers blood pressure, improves sleep & strengthens the immune system.

You get all of that for only a few minutes of dedication to meditation each day.

It helps with a healthy gut.

2 German studies indicate that mental relaxation can lead to increase secretion of SIgA – Which is very important to a healthy digestive tract.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction has been shown to reduce depression and fear of recurrence in women diagnosed with breast cancer.

MBSR lowers cortisol, lowers systolic blood pressure.

Studies showed a significant improvement in psychological and physical quality of life.

No matter what you call it, prayer, meditation, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.

Your body likes to be relaxed.

Meditation is a powerful tool that offers numerous physical, mental, and emotional benefits.

In our crazy world, having the ability to be present and fully engaged in the now is a rare and precious gift.

The reasons to meditate are as varied as the individuals who practice it.

It is about cultivating mindfulness, a state of focused attention and awareness of the present moment.

Where to start:

  1. Find a quiet space.
  2. Get comfortable.
  3. Focus on your breath – inhale and exhale.
  4. Be present – as you breathe, your mind wanders. Acknowledge it without judgment and gently guide your focus back to your breath.
  5. Practice regularly- consistency is key.
  6. Explore different techniques – experiment with different methods.
  7. Be patient and kind to yourself – it is a skill that develops over time. Don’t be discouraged by a busy mind or restless thoughts.

There is no right or wrong way to meditate.

Daily meditation can significantly enhance your overall well-being.

Be consistent, patient & open-minded.
