Headaches?

women with a headache

Happy Tuesday! Dr. Kelly here. Do you or a loved one suffer with headaches?

Headaches can be debilitating.

A loved one can miss out on the fun for a few hours of the day or even several days in a row!

Sometimes, and that sometimes may not be that often, you can push through them. When pushing through your focus is not there and you are not functioning at 100%

There are several different types of headaches.

Tension, cluster, sinus, migraines are only a few types of headaches you can suffer from.

Preventing Headaches:

1. You know one of my favorite things is WATER.

Staying hydrated can prevent some headaches.

½ your body weight in ounces of water.

Ideally you monitor by watching urine color to be a pale yellow.

Clear = Too much water; Dark yellow = Too little water

2. Knowing your triggers and avoiding them!<

It could be MSG or red wine. Keep a journal and monitor what affects you.

3. Massage therapy – Having a more relaxed body. Decreasing tense in your body.

4. Getting Adjusted! A body that moves better carries less tension.

4.  Depending on what the cause of the headache is, supplements can be supportive.

B vitamins help your nerves. B2 – Riboflavin.

Magnesium helps muscle. But it has also been found that people who experience migraines have low magnesium. Therefore, keeping your levels at a proper level could reduce the likelihood of you getting a migraine.

What to do When you Have a Headache???

GET ADJUSTED

Some people prefer heat, others feel better with cold. Try them both on for 10 mins of one temp, off for 10 mins, 10 mins of the other temp. Continue 10 mins on/off for whichever temperature that felt the best!

There are acupuncture points that I utilize with the instrument for acupressure.
You can do a similar acupressure at home.

Look for the meaty spot between your thumb and pointer finger. This spot is typically tender. Apply pressure for 30 seconds. Repeat for both hands.

Put your hand on the top of your head and feel for the most tender spot. Once you have found that spot, apply pressure for 30 seconds. Next find the meaty spot between your big toe and the 2nd toe. Apply pressure for 30 seconds or tap on the location. Repeat to both feet.

I like to use doTerra’s Past tense roller ball. It is one of the oils I carry in my purse.

DoTerra’s Past tense: Wintergreen, Lavender, Peppermint, Frankincense, Cilantro, Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Basil, Rosemary

Peppermint or Deep Blue can also provide relief in some people.
